Tony Dahlerbruch Dismissed

Dismissed by Palos Verdes Estates City Council

In December 2013, the Coalition to Save PVE from Tony Dahlerbruch was formed following what was perceived as a recognizable fact pattern of negligence, incompetence and arguably even corruption.  Over the proceeding years, as the City’s residents came to learn of out-of-control spending, tremendous senior staff turnover, and an apparent blind eye toward serious problems related to the police department and pension debt, the Coalition’s  views on both Dahlerbruch and the City Council became mainstream.

In March 2019, discontent with the incumbent City Council’s inertia in maintaining Mr. Dahlerbruch’s position running PVE came to a boiling point.  As a result, each and every incumbent up for election either was voted out of office (Jennifer King and Betty Lin Peterson), or was wise enough to see the writing on the wall and not run for election (Jim Vandever).  The majority of PVE City Council thus was reconstituted, with Victoria Lozzi, Michael Kemps and David McGowan voted onto the dais.

In April 2019, the Palos Verdes City Council, with two newly-elected members having worked closely with Tony Dahlerbruch over the prior one-two years as City Treasurer and Financial Advisory Committee member/participants, voted to dismiss Mr. Dahlerbruch as PVE City Manager.  Mr. Dahlerbruch’s desire to remain employed with PVE was publicly declared, leading to his receipt of six-months severance.

With the late April 2019 effective date of the termination of Tony Dahlerbruch’s role as City Manager of Palos Verdes Estates, the purpose of SavePVEfromTonyD.com has been accomplished.

As a result, on May 1, 2019, access by the public to nearly the entire website was removed.  The only page that had been left visible to the public was the PVE Police Department Wall of Fame, honoring former Chief of Police Dan Dreiling and other similarly worthy officers.  However, dishonorable conduct by Dan Dreiling during his stint as Interim Chief of Police led to that page being converted to private status, and the PVEPD Wall of Shame’s return.

On behalf of the residents of Palos Verdes Estates, we wish Mr. Dahlerbruch and his family a happy and healthy future in whatever city he becomes employed.

  1. It is sad to have learned that Tony Dahlerbruch seems to have gone from running cities to being a headhunter for a 3rd rate recruitment firm (Peckham and McKenny). It looks like no city saw it fit to hire a guy that was so unwanted as PVE’s city manager that it fired him with six months severance, hired an Acting City Manager and then an Interim City Manager rather than keep Dahlerbruch around for even a few weeks.

    1. Tony Dahlerbruch is un-hirable. Councilman David McGowan wanted him out of PVE at any cost, yesterday. McGowan as a Financial Advisory Committee member had dealt with Tony D and realized ethics and intelligence were lacking in tall order. Michael Kemps has been running around PVE telling anyone who will listen he is the one who got Tony fired. Either way, Tony’s not getting a real job anytime soon.
